WHAT WE DO
OUR CURRENT
EFFORTS.
With the help of generous donations from people like you, we are able to provide:
Rescues
We provide immediate response when swans & waterfowl are in distress, located in roadways, parking lots or have been discovered with injury.
This includes the safe capture and relocation or temporarily care for lost or misguided cygnets.
*At this time, the founders have created a temporary sanctuary at their home where swans who need longer term care are residing and receiving treatment as needed.
* See Sanctuary funding below as our next step:
Volunteerism
We actively support and take action within the community, including lake
cleanups, provide medical care and treatment, transportation to veterinarians,
supplemental nutrition and monitor behaviors and provide informative consultations when necessary.
We also are actively involved with our downtown city managed park where waterfowl exist and aid in providing opportunities to get involved. We are always looking for additional volunteers to support our efforts as well as individuals to further support our advocacy for their livelihood.
Exciting future volunteer opportunities will exponentially expand once we secure and build our sanctuary. Until then, become part of the Friends of a Feather community and help us to make a difference!

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
Medical Care
We step in when there is nowhere for an injured or abandoned swan to go. We actively provide care & rehabilitation to injured swans or swans unable to thrive in the wild, inclusive of physical therapy, diet & supplements, acupuncture & laser therapy when needed.
We also support the guidance, actionable support and financial resources needed when medical care is required for captive & wild swans on neighboring lakes across Central Florida.
Education
We engage the community in many ways, including supporting the swan
roundup at a city managed park where wellness checks are conducted once yearly and records are updated to further identify common trends, environmental enhancements or nutritional supplements that may enhance their ability to thrive.
We conduct virtual consultations and provide connections to experts and organizations in countries where
these waterfowl are native, to help provide answers to questions, concerns and learning opportunities.
We are also actively working on bringing together educational materials
and opportunities to engage the community to bridge the gap between common misunderstands of these animals and how to best engage and support them in their habitats.
The Sanctuary
As there are virtually no existing rescues or sanctuaries that provide a
home or dedicated support, we have an ongoing fund specified to support the purchase and creation of a world class facility, which will provide the space, medical care and educational and engaging opportunities for the public to interact and support.
